Via Condotti at a glance
Via dei Condotti is a shopping street with luxury boutiques, a short walk from the Spanish Steps. The street lies close to Piazza di Spagna. Its name goes back to the water conduits of the 16th century.
You do not have to shop to enjoy it. The street is a pedestrian route between the square and the rest of the Tridente, the district shaped by Via del Babuino, Via del Corso and Via di Ripetta. It is also a good place to understand how the area works: the steps are the landmark, and the streets around them are where everyday Rome mixes with the visitors.

How to walk Via Condotti
A short walk with a few reasons to slow down.
Start in the square
Begin beside the Barcaccia and look at the steps, then walk into the shopping street. The contrast between the open piazza and the street is the point of the walk.
Barcaccia fountain →Look up, not only into windows
Look at the upper floors and the line of the street as well as the windows. It is the cheapest way to get something out of a luxury street.
Come back at night
The street looks different after dark, so it is worth a second pass in the evening.
Opening hours differ shop by shop. There is no uniform schedule for the street and no general Sunday closing that applies to all of it, so check the shop you want before you travel.

The Antico Caffè Greco
The Antico Caffè Greco is a historic café on Via dei Condotti. It closed on 8 October 2025 after a lease dispute. Treat it as a historic stop on the street and check whether it has reopened before you build a plan around it.
If you want a break, the nearest alternative is on the other side of the steps. Babington's, at Piazza di Spagna 23 to 25, lists opening hours of 09:00 to 22:30 from Monday to Thursday and on Sunday, and 09:00 to 23:00 on Friday and Saturday. Another listing says 09:00 to 20:15 every day, so look at the current hours before you plan an evening visit.
Via del Babuino and the Tridente
Via del Babuino runs from Piazza di Spagna to Piazza del Popolo. With Via del Corso and Via di Ripetta it forms the three streets of the Tridente, the "trident" that fans out from the northern square. It is a natural way to continue north from the square.
Bus 119 serves the area around Trinità dei Monti, Via del Babuino and Piazza del Popolo. Lines change, so check the current route before the day.

Practical points

Cars and the ZTL
The Tridente is a limited traffic zone. The ZTL applies Monday to Friday from 06:30 to 19:00 and on Saturday from 10:00 to 19:00. A hotel in the zone is not proof that you may drive in. Check the zone before you book parking or a transfer.
Getting there →Spring azaleas
In 2026 the azalea display ran from 16 April to 17 May with more than 200 plants, and it spread beyond the steps into Via dei Condotti. The exact dates depend on the weather and vary by year.
