The Keats-Shelley House at a glance
The museum is at Piazza di Spagna 26, at the foot of the Spanish Steps. It occupies the rooms where the poet John Keats lived at the end of his life, and it holds a collection on English Romanticism. From Spagna metro station on line A it is about 2 minutes on foot.
The house is small and quiet, a contrast to the square outside. It suits a short stop before or after the steps, and it is a good choice when the weather is wet or the sun is strong.

Opening hours
The museum closes for lunch, so plan around the break.
| Day | Morning | Afternoon |
|---|---|---|
| Monday to Saturday | 10:00–13:00 | 14:00–18:00, last entry 17:45 |
| Sunday | – | – |
Sunday is not a regular opening day. Public holidays follow their own arrangements, so check the current calendar before you plan around a holiday date. Between 13:00 and 14:00 the museum is closed, which makes late morning or the first hour after lunch the practical times to go.

Access to the museum
The house is a historic building. A staircase leads up to the museum level, and rooms suitable for wheelchairs are on that level only. Entry is therefore not fully step-free. If mobility is an issue, ask the museum before you come.
The same goes for the approach. Spagna metro station has no step-free access to the platforms. If you need step-free access, plan another way in. Our getting there page explains the station and the lift near the church.

Combining it with the rest of the square
Everything below is within a few minutes of the door.
Morning: the museum, then the steps
Arrive at 10:00 when the doors open, then climb the steps while the light is still soft. You finish at the church at the top before the midday crowds build.
After lunch: the Pincio
The museum reopens at 14:00. From there you can walk up through Trinità dei Monti to the Pincian Hill terrace for the view over the Piazza del Popolo.
Pincian Hill →Evening: the Barcaccia and Trevi
The museum shuts at 18:00. Afterwards, stop at the fountain in the square and continue on foot toward Trevi.
Barcaccia fountain →The Antico Caffè Greco on Via dei Condotti closed on 8 October 2025,, so do not plan a coffee stop there. Babington's, on the other side of the steps at Piazza di Spagna 23 to 25, lists evening hours until 22:30 or 23:00, while another listing gives 20:15. Check before you go.
Before you go
A short checklist for a smooth visit.
Bring proof for reduced tickets
The €5 tier and the free categories can require ID, a student card or a membership card. Have it ready at the desk.
Avoid the lunch gap
The door is shut from 13:00 to 14:00. If you arrive at 13:15, use the time for a walk up the steps and come back.
Check the date
Sundays and public holidays can differ from the weekly schedule. Confirm the date you plan to visit.
Ask about access early
The staircase to the museum level matters for pushchairs and wheelchairs. Ask the museum what is possible before you come.
